Why Corfu?
Corfu is known for its natural beauty, historic Venetian architecture, and stunning beaches with crystal-clear turquoise waters. It is often considered one of Greece's more upscale island destinations, with high-end seaside resorts, but it offers much more than luxury alone. Visitors can also find budget and mid-range hotels, family-friendly resorts, and traditional villages with affordable tavernas.
I thought the adults-only Cape Resort was exactly that — a modern, budget-friendly retreat in a great location for travelers with a car. It is located 800 meters from the nearest beach and just a 10-minute drive from the lively town of Sidari. However, what I loved most about the location was its proximity to Canal d’Amour and Cape Drastis (pictured above), both just a few kilometers away. They were stunning spots for a beach day. Kassiopi, about 40 minutes away, offered some of the best snorkeling on the island. I felt that the northern part of the island was the place to be in June, as the sea was noticeably warmer there than along the western coast.
My Junior Suite
My suite was spacious, spotlessly clean, and calming, with a minimalist design. The bedroom was separated from the small dining area by a clever half-wall, creating a sense of openness while maintaining privacy. The well-equipped kitchen included a stovetop, refrigerator, kitchenware, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The bathroom was lovely, featuring a shower and complimentary toiletries. The air conditioning worked efficiently, and I slept very well in this tranquil space. The suite also featured three French balconies overlooking the garden and pool, which I particularly enjoyed.
The Amenities of Cape Resort
The restaurant offers an à la carte breakfast at reasonable prices. Guests who have booked a breakfast-inclusive stay can choose between two set breakfast options: a Full Breakfast or a Greek Breakfast, which does not include eggs. Otherwise, the two options are largely the same.
The Full Breakfast included eggs, bacon, toast, honey, jam, Greek yogurt with fruit and nuts, a piece of cake or rice pudding, fresh juice, and coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, although I felt it could be improved by offering fresh vegetables and a wider range of dietary options, such as lactose-free yogurt and gluten-free bread.
Guests can relax by the refreshing swimming pool, surrounded by lush local plants, and enjoy snacks or drinks at the on-site bar. After arriving, I headed straight to the pool. Taking a swim after a long day of sightseeing felt absolutely wonderful.
In Conclusion
Cape Resort is located in a peaceful, less developed part of Corfu, where you can still hear chickens in the morning. It offers a quiet retreat away from busier resort areas, while still being within an hour’s drive of many interesting places to visit. The resort provides a bed-and-breakfast experience with friendly local staff and plenty of traditional tavernas nearby. It was everything I hoped for from my Greek holiday!
