The Pavilions Phuket, Thailand

Thailand attracts millions of tourists every year, and for many, it represents the epitome of a tropical paradise, with pristine white-sand beaches, azure seas, friendly locals, and delicious cuisine. The country is very safe to travel in, even for solo female travelers. Nevertheless, as this was my first visit to Asia, I felt it would be more comfortable to familiarize myself with the culture and climate while staying in slightly more Western-style accommodation. For that reason, I chose The Pavilions Phuket, nestled atop one of the island’s highest points, as my first place to stay on my Christmas holiday. The resort offers modern, spacious private villas and suites, providing a luxurious escape on the island of Phuket.

The Pavilions Phuket

The Pavilions Phuket offers airport transfers from Phuket International Airport, which is about 30–45 minutes away depending on traffic. I loved the reception area, with its high traditional roof, elephant and Buddha statues, large open windows, and expansive views. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with the sound of a gong, a refreshing drink, and a cool towel. The service was impeccable from the very beginning to the end of my stay. The lovely lady at reception explained the amenities of the expansive resort and immediately made me feel at ease. Afterwards, I was taken by golf cart to my suite, where my luggage had already been delivered.

My Tropical View Suite

My suite made me feel extremely comfortable and cozy. It featured a spacious living room and bedroom, a bathroom with both a bathtub and a shower, and a small kitchen. Most importantly, it had air conditioning and complimentary bottled water — a welcome relief, as the daily temperatures rose above 30 degrees Celsius. The suite also included a balcony with stunning views over the jungle. On Christmas Day, the staff had even left a beautiful festive treat in my room. Absolutely nothing was missing from this wonderful space!

The Amenities of Pavilions Phuket

Next to the sprawling 60-metre freeform pool is the Firefly Pool Bar and Restaurant, which serves breakfast, à la carte dinners, and lunch buffets. Before my stay, I was a little worried about the food, as I’m not used to very spicy dishes, but the menu turned out to be versatile and catered to all tastes. My favourite was an unbelievably delicious dish called Pineapple Rice, which I ordered with chicken. Each morning, you can kick-start your day with their homemade breakfast, featuring an extensive buffet of sweet and savoury options, along with soups and omelettes freshly prepared by the chef.

The highlight of my stay was a visit to the spa, which offers a wide selection of signature treatments and massages. I chose the Tropical Island Paradise package, which included a foot ritual, a Coffee Body Polish exfoliation, and a 90-minute Lomi Lomi massage characterized by long, flowing, wave-like strokes. The therapist was very professional, and the experience was wonderfully soothing for both body and mind after a long flight. I left feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenated. For guests who like to stay active while on holiday, there is also a modern gym set amid the lush tropical gardens, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities — although, unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to visit it.

The hotel’s other bar, the 360° Bar, is located at the highest point of The Pavilions Phuket and offers the best sunset vantage point over the lush greenery. Here, you can enjoy beautifully crafted cocktails, live music, and breathtaking views. The Christmas decorations made the atmosphere feel absolutely magical.

In Conclusion

My stay at The Pavilions Phuket was everything I had hoped for, and I can easily recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious escape in Thailand! The staff in this hotel is absolutely wonderful and eager to cater to your every need, so you always feel very well taken care of. The resort’s tour and concierge services can help you secure tickets and reserve dining spots, making it effortless to plan your daily activities. Shuttle services to and from the resort make it easy to explore Phuket Old Town and the surrounding islands. In this way, the hotel can easily serve as a convenient base for your entire holiday — especially if you prefer relaxing by the pool to constant sightseeing.

I have always preferred sightseeing, so I booked a tour of Phang Nga Bay. The itinerary included kayaking near Hong Island and a visit to the famous James Bond Island. It was a wonderful experience that offered dramatic views of the towering cliffs. The closest beach to the hotel is peaceful, family-friendly Bangtao Beach (pictured below), located about 10 minutes away, and it can also be easily explored independently using taxi apps such as Bolt or Grab.
