People travel to Krabi, Thailand, because it offers a unique blend of dramatic natural scenery and relaxed beach living. The region is famous for its towering limestone cliffs, turquoise waters, mangrove forests, and white-sand beaches around areas like Railay, Ao Nang, and the Phi Phi islands. Visitors enjoy easy island-hopping by boat, as well as outdoor adventures such as rock climbing, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, and jungle excursions. Compared with busier destinations such as Phuket, it has a more laid-back atmosphere, along with great Thai food, friendly local culture, and a wide range of affordable-to-luxury accommodations.
Aonang Fiore Resort
I always look for new experiences when traveling, and for this reason, I chose Aonang Fiore Resort for my accommodation in Krabi. At this resort, you feel as though you’re living in the jungle, yet comfortably inside a luxury cottage. It was unlike anything I had experienced before. The traditional wooden architecture with thatched roofs, the charming cottages and beautifully lit gardens, the impeccable customer service, and the fantastic pool made me feel very fortunate to have found this place. It is located about two kilometers from Ao Nang Beach and the main street, in a quieter part of Ao Nang, yet still in a very convenient location for tours.
Upon arrival, my cottage wasn’t ready because I had arrived early by ferry from Phuket, but the restaurant next to the reception provided a perfect place to wait. The resort offers an internal transfer service since the grounds are quite expansive, and it would have been difficult to find my cottage without it. If you wait at a meeting point, a pickup will arrive in less than 10 minutes. Likewise, if you need a transfer back to the reception, you simply wait at the meeting point closest to your cottage. Later, I discovered a beautiful pathway through several gardens that led from my cottage to the reception, and it took only a few minutes to walk. Fortunately, the pool and its restaurant were located right next to my cottage.
My Deluxe Cottage
I absolutely loved my cottage from the moment I stepped inside. It had a private balcony overlooking the pool, earthy décor with beautiful natural finishes, and a luxurious king-size bed. The cottage was spacious (about 34 m²) and featured efficient air conditioning, as well as a modern bathroom with a lovely selection of complimentary toiletries. They also provided two bottles of water per day. The only downside was that, since it is surrounded by tropical forest, there were a few small mosquitoes in the room at night, so using repellent at all times is advisable at this resort. Other than that, I felt extremely comfortable in this space. Experiencing the tranquility and the sounds of nature was a revitalizing and truly unique experience.
The Amenities of Aonang Fiore Resort
The pool area is absolutely fantastic, even though the decking is no longer in pristine condition. There were always plenty of loungers available on different levels, and the pool itself is large enough for a proper swim, with refreshingly cool water. You can also do yoga and stretching here in the morning. The pool bar serves delicious fruit juices, mocktails, and burgers. All the drinks at the resort are alcohol-free, and the food is halal. The pool area was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun!
Next to the pool, Palm Tree Massage offers a wide variety of massages and treatments at very affordable prices. For those who like to exercise while on holiday, there is also a modern, though small, gym available.
De Fish Restaurant offers both Thai and European cuisine. They specialize in fresh seafood, but I also found several of their chicken dishes — such as Pad Thai, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Chicken Masala — to be incredibly delicious and affordable. I liked it so much, I ended up eating at the restaurant every day during my stay.
The breakfast buffet was vast, featuring many savory dishes such as sausages, cutlets, fried rice, chicken curry, and Pad Thai. They also served delicious muffins and pancakes for those with a sweet tooth. The vegetables and fruit were incredibly fresh and flavorful, and there was also an omelet station where you could order an omelet made to your liking. This was a perfect way to start your day of activities!
In Conclusion
There is plenty to do in Krabi for adventurous souls. Aonang Fiore Resort offers an Adventure Zip Line Park that is suitable for families with children (recommended for ages 4 and up). Professional assistants are on hand to guide and support visitors throughout the park.
To visit Railay Beach, you can go independently via the long-tail boat service available from Ao Nang Beach, which takes about 15 minutes each way. For trips to the surrounding islands, tours can be booked at the resort’s reception. During my stay, I visited Poda Island and the Phi Phi Islands, and both were breathtakingly beautiful. I could not have been happier with my stay at Aonang Fiore Resort and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Krabi!
