Nobis Hotel Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm is a beautiful Scandinavian capital built on 14 islands. Here, you’re never far from the waterfront. The city is renowned for its historic architecture and the picturesque Old Town, but it also boasts a vibrant restaurant and café scene, an abundance of museums, and inviting shopping areas. Fashion enthusiasts will find their paradise on Biblioteksgatan, located between Stureplan and Norrmalmstorg, where stylish boutiques showcase both international brands and local labels.

Nobis Hotel Stockholm

This flagship hotel of the Nobis Hospitality Group opened in Stockholm in 2010 and soon became part of the prestigious Design Hotels collection. It occupies two magnificent historic buildings in a prime location on Norrmalmstorg Square — a perfect base for exploring the restaurants, museums, and shopping districts of Norrmalm and Östermalm. I couldn’t wait to dive into this vibrant part of the Swedish capital!

While Nobis Hotel may lean slightly toward a business clientele, I was immediately impressed by its approach to contemporary luxury. Their goal is to move away from traditional luxury clichés, instead offering comfort, efficiency, and warmth with genuinely friendly service. I truly felt they delivered on that promise, and I left with the sense that I’d experienced the very best of Stockholm’s hotel scene.

My Double Room

Nobis Hotel Stockholm offers 201 rooms, all designed in collaboration with the world-renowned and award-winning architecture and design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune. I was fortunate to receive a complimentary room upgrade upon check-in, which was a wonderful start to my stay.

The room’s minimalist design features a soft color palette dominated by shades of gray and brown, creating a soothing and calming atmosphere. The color scheme draws inspiration from the muted tones of Stockholm’s winter landscape. Here, luxury is all about optimal comfort and functionality.

The bathroom was very sophisticated and had an extra touch of luxury with floor-to-ceiling Carrara marble. Nobis Hotel has chosen toiletries from the Swedish fragrance house Byredo, and I absolutely loved their scent! Taking a shower in the spacious, beautifully designed bathroom was an absolute pleasure.

I was inspired by the use of natural materials: wool, wood, stone, leather, and glass, which added warmth and texture to the space. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, dressed in luxurious Egyptian cotton bedding. My double room felt calm, understated, and refreshingly free from excess.

The Amenities in Nobis Hotel

The Lounge is a stunning public space with an impressive ceiling height of 28 meters. This cathedral-like living room is crowned by two magnificent glass domes and offers a variety of separate seating areas, each with its own distinct character and design. I absolutely loved this unique space because it felt like a beautiful indoor courtyard. Here, both hotel guests and locals can gather to enjoy a drink or share the hotel’s charcuterie tray.

The adjoining Guldbaren, also known as The Gold Bar, takes its inspiration from Yayoi Kusama’s installation 'Fireflies on the Water', with its walls and ceiling entirely covered in gold-swathed mirrors. The combination of mirrors and countless reflecting lights creates a dazzling yet undeniably luxurious atmosphere. Here, you can enjoy their signature cocktail, the Strawberry Basil Smash.

The Restaurants

The restaurant NOI offers a menu with European influences, served in a stylish Scandinavian setting designed by the renowned Swedish architectural firm Wingårdhs. At NOI, guests can enjoy both breakfast and dinner in an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere.

Their other restaurant, Bistro Nobis or Bino, is a slightly more modern space with a delightful menu inspired by flavors from around the world. I chose to have dinner here and enjoyed a perfectly prepared fish dish served with beurre blanc sauce and a variety of carrots. I can wholeheartedly recommend this!

I absolutely adored the design and dark hues of NOI! The restaurant offers a Swedish, eco-friendly breakfast, which I truly appreciated. The spread featured homemade, freshly baked breads and pastries, along with a beautiful selection of locally sourced produce, including cold cuts, cheeses, fruits, fish, yogurt, and vegetables.

They also served a variety of hot dishes, such as omelets, sausages, porridge, crepes, and bacon. While the focus leaned more toward savory items, with only a limited selection of desserts, I thoroughly enjoyed their smoothies and croissants — all made even better by the exceptional freshness of the produce!

In Conclusion

Staying at this hotel made it effortless to immerse myself in the vibrant pulse of the city — while also offering a serene refuge whenever I needed a moment of calm. I especially appreciated the 24/7 access to the gym and sauna, adding a welcome wellness touch to my stay.

Nobis Hotel Stockholm perfectly captured everything I love about this city: Scandinavian aesthetics with impeccable finishes, beautiful historic architecture, high-end restaurants and bars, a warm and friendly atmosphere, and an overall sense of ease. I truly enjoyed every minute of my time at Nobis Hotel Stockholm!
