Hotel PACAI, Vilnius, Lithuania

Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, was a city I knew very little about until this visit. Nevertheless, for the past few years, I've had my eye on the five-star Hotel PACAI, a member of the international group of Design Hotels, located in the heart of Vilnius's Old Town. As I contemplated the best way to celebrate my 40th birthday, I booked a stay at this remarkable hotel. The hotel is surrounded by numerous museums, churches, shops, restaurants, and inviting cafes, so I anticipated an amazing weekend ahead.

Renowned as the most magnificent mansion in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (from the 13th century to the late 18th century), the stately building of Hotel PACAI has been renovated back to its former glory, thanks to the efforts of a passionate team of local architects and designers. The palatial hotel opened in 2018.

The designers aimed to keep the history visible in this former Baroque building, and I loved the fact that existing frescoes and unique textures of the walls were highlighted. At the same time, the hotel's main features exhibited elegance and classical purity, both through materials and details. A cozy, artistic atmosphere was achieved through deep tones in the public areas, music, and artwork. This attention to detail created a sense of peace, calm, and comfort. The hotel promised a royal treatment experience, from design to linens, and I was eager to partake in it.

The reception area featured fresh fruit, biscuits, and water for guests to enjoy. It seamlessly transitioned into the bar area, which offered inviting seating and a cozy reading corner. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with complimentary drinks, and our luggage was promptly taken to our room. Additionally, the receptionist was very kind and provided us with numerous recommendations for sights and restaurants in Vilnius. The customer service at this hotel truly deserves five stars!

My Deluxe Room

The hotel offers 104 rooms and suites, each uniquely decorated. The bathrooms are clad in marble from floor to ceiling and include either a bath or shower. I specifically requested a room with hardwood floors and a free-standing bathtub. The Deluxe Room felt spacious, thanks to its high ceilings and approximately 30 m² of area.

I loved the hardwood floors, the stylish light fixtures, and the luxurious bathroom featuring Molton Brown toiletries. The view of the courtyard and the rooftops of the old town was fantastic. However, the air conditioning was disappointing; it seemed insufficient, and I had to request a fan for the room. Once that was resolved, I slept well and felt that this was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday in Vilnius.

The Amenities of Hotel PACAI

In the relaxing spa, rich historical elements are blended with present-day design to showcase soft, deep tones and elegant materials. It offers a sauna, hammam, pampering face and body treatments, and beauty packages. In addition, they have a fitness area with the latest training equipment. I felt completely relaxed and rejuvenated after visiting the spa!

The inviting restaurant and bar celebrate Lithuania’s rich past and Baltic culture. The chefs aim to bring the taste of Lithuania to the plate with simple and distinctive flavors of local ingredients such as caraway seeds, dill, horseradish, and many others. All their dishes aim to provide clients with an experience of culinary art. Additionally, the hotel’s expansive courtyard features outdoor seating in the summertime, providing a beautiful place for guests to enjoy their breakfasts and dinners.

The breakfast area was one of the most elegant I have ever seen, and the breakfast buffet offered a great variety of hot and cold dishes as well as excellent coffee, freshly squeezed juices, and prosecco. In addition, they had an à la carte menu with different omelets and porridge. I especially liked their selection of pastries, delicious cakes, and desserts. Having breakfast here was a great delight!

In Conclusion

Hotel PACAI unquestionably stands as one of Vilnius’ top luxury hotels. It provides a palatial setting for clients to immerse themselves in luxurious pampering, exploration of the old town, and Lithuanian culture. Furthermore, traveling in Lithuania is surprisingly affordable, as the city has long been topping lists of the cheapest places to go on holiday in Europe. I was very grateful for this visit since PACAI provided such a wonderful setting to celebrate my birthday and introduced me to Vilnius, an often-overlooked travel destination in Europe.
