Bachleda Resort, Zakopane, Poland

Bachleda Resort Zakopane

Bachleda Resort is a five-star accommodation in the cute town of Zakopane in the Polish Tatra mountains. It has been renovated only a few years ago and is a very suitable option for those seeking comfort after hours of hiking or skiing. The resort is located about 5 minutes' walk from the main street, called Krupowki, and 2,2 kilometers from the lift that goes up to the Kasprowy Wierch.

I visited the resort with my Polish friend in mid-July during the high touristic season, so there was a lot of traffic jam before reaching the town, and the resort was almost fully booked. Anyway, it was easy to find with the navigator. They didn't offer parking assistance, but they have a sizable paid underground parking and an outdoor parking area for the clients. So finding a safe place for your car is not an issue.

I am sure that everybody who enters this resort can not help but love the charm and character of the reception area. The detailed woodwork, especially on the ceiling and staircase, is just stunning and the unique décor is very fitting for a mountain village like this. The space feels very warm and welcoming – also because there are many gas fireplaces around the hotel. Moreover, the staff at the reception was very polite, professional and spoke fluent English. So the clients feel at home immediately.

My Premium Room

The staff kindly presented us with an alternative choice for a room, when we were conflicted between the deluxe and premium rooms. The only available deluxe room was on the first floor next to the parking area. So we opted for a premium room with a mountain view - and after seeing both options we knew we made the right choice!

We really loved the gray tones in the room, the stylish design, and the large balcony. The thing that got us conflicted was the size of the room. There is a sizable sofa in the middle of the room, which was really ill-fitting and together with the sofa table blocked the way to the balcony. It really is an unnecessary piece of furniture! My friend had also trouble fitting in the bed because of the sofa. So I really hope they will think about removing it in the future and thus creating more space in the room.

The bathroom was rather small and a little bit confusing with so many decorative elements and surface materials in the space. But I liked the selection of toiletries they had for the clients and the fact that they offered also water bottles free of charge. Unfortunately in the room, there was only one pillow for each client and at least mine was not comfortable. I had to ask for an extra pillow, which was not a lot of trouble, but I just think that in a five-star resort, there should be more than one pillow option on the bed.

The thing that won me over was the view from the balcony! I have never visited a room with a mountain view like this before. So it really was a unique experience to have a drink on the balcony in this hotel after a long day of hiking in the mountains.

Varied Experiences In the Restaurant

They offer dinner at two different times, first in a buffet and then à la carte after 8 pm. We were really hungry when we arrived, so we decided to try the buffet. It was a great experience since the restaurant is beautifully decorated and it is a big enough space, so it doesn't feel crowded even during the buffet. There was a good selection of food in the buffet and the service was smooth.

The breakfast, on the other hand, was a disappointment. There was a nice selection of fresh and warm options in the buffet, but the warm food especially was not tasty or cooked well. Moreover, when we arrived on the second morning, none of the coffee machines were turned on. There was no additional breakfast menu or any way to order food directly from the chef. Nevertheless, these are things I have grown to expect in a five-star hotel.

The bar was nice and cozy and served excellent coffee.

The Size of the Pool

The thing I could not understand was the size of the pool area. The pool area and the gym in this hotel are extremely small. They are completely ill-suited for the size of the hotel and number of the rooms. I can not think of any reason why they have chosen to build them this way. There were two saunas and those were good, but swimming or even relaxing is impossible in the pools if there are a few other clients. This hotel has the potential to offer customers an amazing experience with the jacuzzi and swimming after hiking or skiing, but when it is full, it is not even tempting. These are pictures I managed to take before the pool area was opened:

In Conclusion

Despite a few things that this resort can improve, I think that it is one of the best in the area. The area of Zakopane is absolutely worth visiting and the hiking is superb! The resort is definitely worth seeing, because of its unique design and warm atmosphere. I am very grateful that I got to experience its charm and spent those couple of days exploring the Tatra mountains.
