Långvik Congress Wellness Hotel, Kirkkonummi, Finland

During the corona pandemic, many of us started to appreciate more the hotels that are located close to home and how a different experience it is to work remotely from a hotel than from home. So did I, and the four-star Långvik Congress Wellness Hotel became my favourite. Every time I drove to this secluded location in Kirkkonummi, Finland, I felt my stress level going down already on the way when I saw the surrounding beautiful countryside. Yet, the drive only takes about 30 minutes from the capital. 

Långvik Congress Wellness Hotel

The property was previously an education center for KOP-bank but has been transformed into this glamorous space in 2010. From the humble '70s exterior, you would never guess what a gem lies within. The main floor is stylishly decorated and the vast space has been filled with different inviting seating areas. The blue bar leads into the restaurant area. The space has a nice flow and a lot of natural light. The music they have chosen to be played in the background is calming and adds to the luxury experience.

My Standard Room

The check-in has always been polite and smooth. They have recently changed the keys to the rooms so that the doors can now be opened with the same bracelet as the spa and the gym, which is great. I have always had a standard room in this hotel because it includes a sea view, bathrobes, and an entrance to the spa and the gym. But unfortunately, the style of the rooms is quite basic and doesn't have the wow factor the reception area has. In addition, there have been some issues with the room cleaning (e.g. greasy stains on the surfaces and an empty hand soap bottle) and overall maintenance (e.g. broken door leading to the corridor), which takes away from the luxury customer experience that the personnel is aiming for. Nonetheless, I have always felt that the room has been adequate for my needs.

Enjoy the Activities

Långvik Hotel offers a wide range of different activities for clients. Only the pools and the gym are included in the room price though. In the outdoors, one can try for example SUP-boarding, tennis, or riding fat bikes. There is also a golf course close by. The hotel is located by the sea so I recommend walking in nature. There is a short nature path around the hotel. On the other hand, running or jogging is a little challenging in this area since the road that leads to the hotel doesn't have sidewalks.

Indoors, they have a movie theatre, which I didn't get to try yet. There is also a beautiful yoga studio, and they offer many beauty treatments and massages in the spa. The gym is a modern high space with a wide selection of training equipment. But the best thing is the pool area! It has a 22-meter-long pool with terrace access and a jacuzzi area with a fireplace and a bar. There are many different types of saunas and luxurious showers so the whole experience is very relaxing. It does get crowded on the weekends, but during the weekdays you can many times enjoy the pools alone. They are open until 10 pm, which is great.

Excellent Restaurant Bistro

Nothing feels better than having a delicious dinner after all the exercise and swimming. The restaurant Bistro offers every time something new and innovative. They combine French cuisine with Nordic flavors. I have always enjoyed their fish dishes the most. In the Winter, it is lovely to enjoy the food by the open fire. In the Summer the space continues outside onto the terrace where I recommend ordering a plate of fresh fruit with tea or a drink. The service in the restaurant has always been effortless and thoughtful. 

The breakfast buffet also offers something new and different every time. It is more like a brunch in my opinion: it has many different savories and pastries, salad, fruit, and cakes. This really is a luxury. 

In Conclusion

All in all, Långvik Congress Wellness Hotel is a success in many aspects of the customer experience. There is a little room for improvement when it comes to room cleaning and maintenance, but I am sure that these issues will be addressed soon. They are constantly working to make the place and the experience better for the customers, which makes me want to return to this place over and over again.
