Hotel Telegraaf, Tallinn, Estonia

Hotel Telegraaf

From the first moment I stepped into this hotel, I felt elevated. That feeling was caused by the stylish design, peaceful atmosphere, and friendly greeting of the receptionist. All the personnel in this hotel have always been extremely polite and seemed content to be working in this place. Clearly, a lot of attention is paid to the details here, and those are many times the things that I remember from a visit, such as the use of fresh flowers or the kindness of the service.

Hotel Telegraaf is a five-star hotel with a spa in Tallinn, Estonia. It was built in 1978 and is located only 70 meters from the main square, Raekoja Plats. Being based in Tallinn's fairytale-like Old Town allows you to best experience the city's historic atmosphere. From here, exploring the Old Town and its cobblestone streets is easy on foot. There is an abundance of cozy little cafés, artsy shops, and restaurants in medieval buildings where merchants once lived and traded. The best views of the city and numerous beautiful churches can be found in Toompea (Upper Town), just a short stroll away.

The building housing Hotel Telegraaf used to serve as a bank but soon became the primary center of communications, functioning as a post office with full telephone services. The old-styled telephones are still in use inside the hotel, which, in my opinion, adds a lot of character to the spaces and a little bit of fun to the experience. You may call reception or the spa to ask for information!

Comfort Room & Executive Room

On my first visit to this place, I had a Comfort room. It was nicely decorated with the colors beige, red, and white. Additionally, it had a bathtub next to a window, which is always beautiful. The bed was comfortable, and there were many options for pillows. I was in awe of the historical details in the room, especially the windows. The only negative was that the room felt a little small.

If you are planning to stay more than one night, I recommend booking a bigger room. On my second visit, I did exactly that and booked an Executive room that included the "In Love with Telegraaf" package. So we had a later check-out, a bottle of wine, gifts, and rose decorations in the room. But more importantly, this room had a lot more space than the Comfort room, and the garden view was beautiful.

Best Spa in Town

This hotel, unfortunately, does not have a gym. However, it boasts a very elegant spa! Within the spa, there is a sauna and steam room, luxurious showers, a jacuzzi, and a larger pool. Additionally, there is a possibility to order various treatments or drinks. I enjoyed this space immensely after a long day of sightseeing. It remained open until 10 pm, which was convenient. Furthermore, their Elemis products smell wonderful and feel luxurious.

Award-Winning Restaurant Tchaikovsky

The hotel's restaurant, Tchaikovsky, serves French and Russian-inspired dishes that both look and taste wonderful. They emphasize that a good meal is an emotional experience that takes guests on a journey of flavors. I opted for the tasting menu of 5 dishes, including blinis and quail. The service was elegant with a touch of humor, and the food was exquisite. I highly recommend this award-winning restaurant to everybody!

On the other hand, breakfast was a slight disappointment. While there was a great selection of hot and cold dishes, I found myself hoping for more options for different desserts, and the omelet that I ordered lacked salt, in my opinion. However, the space is so beautiful that these minor details didn't ruin my experience at all.

In Conclusion

Overall, I believe that Hotel Telegraaf is one of the best places to stay in Tallinn and is definitely worth visiting. Especially when the weather gets colder in autumn and life gets busier, nothing feels better than unwinding in a luxury spa hotel. It combines elegance and character, and I felt like a queen during my stay. The exceptional service continued even after I had left; I accidentally forgot my jacket at the hotel, but they were kind enough to send it to me by post! I was truly amazed.
